Alabama EARS' Wish List
The ultimate wish on our wish list is to have no more abandoned or neglected bunnies in need of rescue. Until then, there are many items that we would love to have in our foster homes, or things that we always need more of. This is just a partial listing of items. If you have other items in mind please let us know!
Little Things That Make A BIG Difference
- Thin sheets of plexiglass (to put in between exercise pens:) This lets the bunnies see each other but cuts down on our nose biting incidents!
- Water crocks: For thirsty little bunnies. When a bunny goes to his forever home, we usually send his water crock too. Therefore, we are always in need of this item.
- Litter boxes (we love Litter Gitter Brand but we are not picky): Every size is perfect but we could really use some large ones for our new big, big bunnies! We have big bunnies, little bunnies, bunnies that come with a best friend so we need just as much variety in the litter boxes we have in our foster homes. To help each bunny settle in at their new home, we tend to send the litter box once an adoption is finalized.
- Rugs: The washable chewable kind. The cotton ones from India are inexpensive and perfect! Every bunny needs a rug or two to snuggle against.
- Toys: Toys to toss, toys to chew, toys that make noise. As long as they are bunny safe all toys are welcome. When a bunny comes into our care, they rarely come with toys--most buns have never even seen one. We like to make sure that each bun has at least one toy as soon as she is in our care. We often include the toys in the "going home package" so toys are always needed for the new rescues.
- Paper towels: The heavy duty kind are the best! In a foster home, the cleaning never ends and paper towels are a necessity.
- White Vinegar: Anyone who has cleaned up a litter box accident knows the value of diluted vinegar. We also use vinegar to help clean the foster bunnies litter boxes.
- Garage Sale Items: EARS holds garage sales thoughout the year so please think of us when you have gently used items that we could add to our treasure chest. Your donations to us are tax-deductible and benefit the foster buns. If you have something to donate in the Huntsville area, call Ruth at (256) 882- 2231. To donate in the Birmingham area, or any other area of Alabama, call us at (205) 942-9589 and leave a message.
Medium Things to Help Us Keep Running
- Gift Cards: Home Depot (plexiglass, cement tube toys), Wal-Mart (veggies, cleaning supplies), Target (litter boxes).
- Exercise Pens (X-pens): We use dog exercise pens we use to make each bunnies' apartment.
- Carriers: Big, little, medium, x-large carriers. These don't even need to be brand new. If you have an extra one save it for a for a foster bun!
- Gift Certificates: To Riverview Animal Clinic or Becker Animal Clinic. We can use these for spay and neuter and vet care. Or, send your donation to us online from your PayPal account or use a major credit card by clicking our "Make a Donation" button. Specify "Riverview" in the Payment For section.
Big Things We'd Really Love
- A Garage Door with Windows: If anyone is feeling really generous, or knows an animal loving garage door distributor, we need to replace a garage door in one of our foster homes. We are looking for one that has windows to give the foster bunnies more natural light.
