As part of EARS’ commitment to the happiness and wellness of rabbits, we’ve developed the Alabama EARS Spay/Neuter Program to assist owners with the high costs of rabbit spay/neuter.
Why Spay or Neuter? Altering your bunny gives him/her the chance for a happier, healthier, and longer life. An altered bunny also has a better chance to be bonded with another bunny, and more importantly, to be bonded without the inevitable contribution to the overpopulation of rabbits. An altered bunny’s human is happier, too, as spaying/neutering curtails spraying and other obnoxious behaviors, all of which makes the bunny a better companion. As a bonus, litter box training becomes a breeze!
Even if you have only one bunny there are plenty of good reasons to spay or neuter. Check them out here.
Who Should Spay or Neuter Your Rabbit? EARS recommends bunny spay/neuter only by experienced rabbit veterinarians. At present, EARS is offering spay/neuter certificates for Riverview Animal Clinic. We’re happy to add more experienced rabbit veterinarians to this certificate plan later, but to ensure the launch and success of the first year for this new program, we have limited our veterinarian selection to Riverview Animal Clinic.
How Much Does the Certificate Cost? The cost of the spay/neuter certificate isonly $75(you'll save $175 per spay/neuter). Certificates expire after two months from date of issue. No refund after expiration. Certificate is good at Riverview Animal Clinic only. Call Riverview Animal Clinic for an appointment with Drs. Alvin Atlas or Christopher Campbell. Present the certificate when you present your pet. Rabbits must be at least four months of age for spaying or neutering. Transport your pet safely by carrier.
PET OWNERS PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT the veterinarian agrees to accept Alabama EARS Certificates as full and complete compensation for:
1. Hospital admittance and examination
2. Anesthesia
3. The surgical procedure
4. Pain medication
5. Hospitalization as required
6. Suture removal if necessary
The veterinarian may reject pets for services encompassed in the program if, in the veterinarian’s professional opinion, the requested service cannot be safely performed due to the existing health condition of the pet.
If there are to be additional charges for non-routine surgery, the veterinarian must discuss them with the pet owner prior to surgery.
Non-routine refers to pregnancy, pre-diagnosed infection, undescended testicles, and animals in estrux cycle. The veterinarian agrees to make no additional charges based on the weight, age, or size of the animal treated.
If any additional services or treatment for unrelated medical conditions are requested, the fees charged by the veterinarian are the responsibility of the person who requested the services—bearer of certificate.
