A sanctuary rabbit is a bun who has been deemed "unadoptable" and is moved into a permenant shelter situation with an Alabama EARS Fosterer.
Sometimes, a serious medical issue is the reason. Sometimes, it is because no on is interested in adopting the bunny for unknown reasons. Alabama EARS is a NO KILL organization. This means that once we take a bun into our foster homes (and therefore our hearts) that bun is with us until he is adopted. If he is never adopted he remains with us to live out his natural life.
We are happy to report that we have no bunnies in sanctuary care at this time.
