Before bringing a pet rabbit into your home this Easter, please
consider these facts:

Rabbits can live 8 to 10 years.

Rabbits are NOT low maintenance pets - they require as much,
or more, work as a cat or dog.

Rabbits must be spayed or neutered - it helps with behavior
problems that arise when they reach adolescence.

Spay/Neuter surgery costs $100 or more.

Rabbits require routine veterinary care.

Rabbits are not suitable pets for children.

Rabbits are not cuddly - they can become frightened when held.

When frightened, rabbits kick with their back feet and can
cause injury to the person holding them.

Rabbits should be housed indoors and need a safe exercise
space.

Rabbits require fresh vegetables on a daily basis.

Rabbits can be destructive, chewing on furniture, baseboards
and wires.

Pet rabbits cannot be set "free" - it is a death sentence.

Each year, unwanted former Easter rabbits fill local shelters and rabbit
rescues. The goal of  the "Make Mine Chocolate" campaign is to break
the cycle of purchase and relinquishment by educating the public about
the responsibilities in keeping a companion rabbit before a purchase is
made. So, this year,
Make Mine Chocolate!
