Our huge, three-day education event is March 2- 4 at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex.
Volunteers are ALWAYS needed to help set up the booth on Thursday, take it down on Sunday, and educate everyone who asks about rabbit care and behavior in between.
To help set up the booth on Thursday, take it down on Sunday, and educate everyone who asks about rabbit care and behavior in between.
Don't feel like you are in expert? No problem. Can you tell booth visitors that rabbits are a lot of work, should be spayed or neutered and belong inside the house? That's pretty much all you need to know!
This event is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to help out the bunnies with only a little effort on your part. Volunteers take breaks to shop the fabulous booths at Cottontail's, and eat lots of chocolate! (After all, we do promote the Make Mine Chocolate event!).
We'd love to see new volunteers this year. We'll make you feel right at home. To volunteer, for a hour or two or an entire day, please email us at info@Alabamaears.org

Because we have more rabbits in need of foster homes than we have space, we cannot foster rabbits from individuals.
Although it is heartbreaking, we cannot take in every rabbit so we focus our rescue efforts on rabbits in shelters whose time has run out. We always have a waiting list and a vacant space is usually filled within hours of an adoption.
If it is truly impossible for you to keep your rabbit, please read "Finding a Home For Your Rabbit," and list him on our websiteand Petfinder.com. If you cannot keep your rabbit until a new home has been found, PLEASE take him to a shelter.
However, if your rabbit has a behavioral issue that is making him difficult to live with, like refusing to use his litter box, we can help. Contact us.

OUR FEATURED SINGLE GIRL
Ginger: One of the sweetes angels to hop into our hearts.

Ginger is small and very, very friendly. If Ginger could talk she'd probably describe her best day ever like so: First, wake up to a piece of fruit followed by a breakfast of Timothy pellets or veggies and lots of hay. Next, she'd want to be lavished with a longgggggg pet down with her special human. After her afternoon nap, she'd like her human(s) to return from work, lavish with more attention, followed by more food and hay followed by more attention. Then, she'd like a bedtime story (or maybe just more attention).
Ginger is a bunny who instantly loves everyone who visits. She wants to be petted and lavished with "good girl" and then given lots more petting. Ginger needs to go to a home where the house humans want a bunny who wants a lot of attention. Oh, and she is also a good toy tosser so we recommend plenty of inexpensive baby toys for this girl to play with and entertain you along the way!

REMEMBER SNOOKIE?
Snookie: Delightful, fun, playful and....lonely? Ready for adoption.

Snookie is very social--wants attention and petting all the time, and it doesn't take much to earn her trust. A few quiet words...a piece of parsley that's about all it takes. Kind reassurance is all she needs to make a new friend in each human who visits her in the foster home.

OUR FEATURED BONDED PAIR
Oscar and Wren: a dreamy pair.

Oscar and Wren were meant to be together--their bonding was very easy and very fast. Oscar is a small bunny so in most photos Wren looks much bigger than she is in real life. This bunny pair would be good for a first-time rabbit household or a human (or two) who want bunnies who will want a lot of attention. To learn more about Oscar and Wren visit their adoption page.

Over the next couple of months, we will be making lots of upgrades to our website. Most upgrades you won't notice--they will be small changes to help us manage our website.
But a few changes will include adding Facebook and Twitter badges to many of our pages to make it easier for our members, volunteers and bunny friendly people to let everyone in their circle know what's going on in our bunny circle.
Some of pages, like Oscar and Wren's photo gallery, already have the badges in place. So if you are feeling like it--LIKE us or send a Tweet to let the world know about this adorable couple.
