A Place to Start

Dear Friends and Members,

Alabama EARS has gotten a number of inquiries about where to send donations to help the animals affected by Hurricane Katrina. There has been a lot of discussion about the relief efforts on the House Rabbit Society's Educator lists, and it appears that the following three organisations are doing very good, on-site disaster relief work for the animals.

Noah's Wish www.noahswish.org (or send donations to PO Box 997, Placerville, CA 95667.) Noah's Wish has been on site in Slidell, LA and has been working with the local SPCA's.

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary www.bestfriends.org (or call 435-644-2001 ex: 104 to make a donation.) Best Friends also is compliing a list of animals who were left behind so they can try to assertain the status of those animals. If you know of evacuees who left behind a pet, you may want to have them call 435-644-3965 ex: 4455 to have their pet placed on this list.
