If you are interested in volunteering at one of the events, please contact us.

  • Wrapping for the Buns
Our dates are set. Dec. 22, 23, and 24th! Once again we will be wrapping books and other treasure for donations at Barnes and Nobel in the Summit Mall in Mountain Brook. EARS volunteers receive donations from grateful customers and answer questions about our organization when asked.

Most of the time, we just chat in between wrapping books for busy shoppers. You'll never be alone--at least two people wrap at all times--and the time goes by quick as a bunny. This is an easy way you can give two or three hours to the bunnies, spread a little holiday cheer, and do your own shopping at the Summit in between wrapping gifts!

Times we will wrap on Dec. 22nd: 9 AM to 3 PM
Times we will wrap on Dec. 23rd: 2:00 PM to 8 PM
Times we will wrap on Dec. 24th: 9:AM to 6 PM (Our biggest donation day!)

Even if you can only wrap for a couple of hours it makes a difference! The donations we receive that this event have a significant impact on the number of rabbits we will be able to rescue in 2010. You really can save a rabbits life by donating a few hours of your time.

Please use the form at the bottom left of this page to email us to volunteer or for more information or email us at info@alabamaears. org.

  • Name That Bun!
All the bunnies have names now! Thank you! See them at the Babies Gallery Page.

  • Website Relaunch: Fall 2009
We decided that it was time to give our web-space a complete makeover, and we hope you love the new site as much as we do! We know that the old website was comfortable and easy to navigate, but with a little time we think you'll find this new site easier and even more organized.

If you've visited us in the past, you'll probably need to clear the cache in your browser so you are not directed to pages that no longer exist.

By the way, we'd like to say THANK YOU to our webmaster who created this site and purchased the software out-of-pocket so more monies can go to the foster bunnies. (Note from web designer "I can't take all the credit. My bunny Professor Snacks deserves as much of it as I do. Even though she has gone to the Rainbow Bridge, she is still an inspiration to me.")
  • The Bunnies Need Monies Campaign

Our hay bill will be due shortly and we're in serious need of donations. We hope that everyone on our mailing list, and everyone who visits our website, donates $5 to Alabama EARS by the end of September--that will cover our hay AND pellet bill and help some with litter costs as well.

Please consider looking in your car ashtray, couch cushions, and top of the dresser for spare change. When so many donate so little it really adds up and the bunnies win. When else will giving away $5 make you feel so warm and fuzzy and make such a difference?

Click here to donate with a credit card or PayPal.

  • Need Oxbow Hay?
Dr. Atlas and the folks at Riverview Animal Clinic donate 100% of the profits of hay sales to Alabama EARS. So when you buy a box of premium Oxbow hay for your bunny you can feel warm and fuzzy twice: first when you feed your bun a quality hay and second when you know your purchase helps out the foster buns.
  • Bunny Safe Toys
If you're in the market for some toys at the same time, you'll find bags of bunny-safe toys also sold at Riverview Animal Clinic. Profits from toy sales also go directly to the EARS foster bun account at Riverview.

The Hay and Toy fund is how we pay for the majority of our spay, neuter and medical expenses. So next time you need hay (or toys), think of Riverview and you'll be thinking of the EARS buns!

  • Books for Buns
Our "Books for Buns" program will continue as long as we have books to give away. Through a generous donation from the national House Rabbit Society, we will continue to donate copies of the House Rabbit Handbook to some libraries and shelters in Alabama. Does your library have a copy?
  • Please Join or Renew Your Membership
Membership to Alabama EARS is still low--only $10 per year. You can join/renew online with Paypal, or any major credit card. If you prefer snail mail, a check is great too! We keep our membership lo dues low on purpose. Every renewal goes straight to foster bun care and public education. You can join or renew here.
  • Cottontails Cottage (MARCH 2010)
Our huge, three day education event will be in March 2010! Volunteers are ALWAYS needed to help set up the booth on Thursday, take it down on Sunday, and educate everyone who asks about rabbit care and behavior in between. Don't feel like you are in expert? No problem. There are always licensed educators at the event. Worried about trying to educate someone? No worries again! Our trained educators will step in when ever you ask.
  • Yard Sales
We have yard sales when we have enough "gently used items" to hold an event. If you have items to donate, please let us know!

  • January is Always Membership Renewal Month
It's still only $10 per year to join Alabama EARS. We know cash is tight, especially after the holidays, but we hope that there is enough cash in the couch cushions for everyone to renew! Renewing online is simple--you can use PayPal or any major credit card. You can join or renew here.

Why We Volunteer

brownie5

                        ADOPTED!
Brownie came to us as a baby (only a few days old) from Huntsville Animal Services. In the foster home, we loved his sweet way of carefully considering a banana slice and gently nibbling on it before delicately taking it from human hands. When we met his forever parents, we knew immediately that Brownie would be in good hands, and we couldn't wait until Brownie joined them in their forever home!

Why do We Volunteer? Because Brownie and his forever parents are a perfect match, and we were able to make their dreams come true.

THANK YOU to Dina Graphics for this photo of Brownie. Visit Dina Graphics.
