  • BYOB Party: November 12th

Our annual BYOB (Bring Your Own Bunny) party is scheduled for Nov. 12th from 11 - 3.

The party will be held in Birmingham at Highland Park Racquet Club (3300 Highland Ave S).  This is a new location to our party--we've grown too much to keep the party at Linda's house and the new place has lots of convenient parking and room for bunnies and people alike!

Party Details

The party will be from 11 am - 3 pm on Nov. 12th

As always, admission to the party is free!

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Campbell from Riverview Animal Clinic. Dr. Campbell is a very experienced rabbit-savvy veterinarian and he regularly sees our foster buns as well as many of the bunnies by our members. The title of his talk is "At Home Emergency Care for Your Bunny."  Please come to listen and have your questions answered.  What you hear could help you save your bunny's life!

Need your bunny's nails trimmed? We'll have a veterinarian technician on ready to trim up those nails and clean scent glands for a $5 donation. Plus, if you are squeamish about doing either maybe you'll learn a tip or two.

We'll have our Bunny Boutique and lots of bunny and human toys. This is the perfect time to start some early holiday shopping for someone who loves bunnies (or for a bunny you love) or just learn about bunny-safe toys and treats. We'll have a selection of toys that from The Busy Bunny and other online stores.

We are planning to have a silent auction with items donated from area businesses and places that have "good bunny karma." Among some of our favorite things donated so far is an amazing art piece donated by rabbit lover Sarah Alderete. We can't wait to show it off!

And, as always, please contact us at info@ alabamaears.org if you'd like to help prepare for the event, help out at the event, or would just like more information on attending!

What to bring

Your healthy, spayed or neutered rabbit(s) in a carrier.

A dish or snack to share with the humans

Your questions. Not sure if bunny is eating the right things? Need help getting her to exercise more? Want advice on how to keep him from chewing on your things? We'll have licensed educators there to answer your questions. Our educators and are ready to help you with your questions or solve your problem.

If you would like to attend the party and leave your bunny at home that’s okay too. You can tell your furry ones all about the party.

What to expect

A relaxed atmosphere with our bunnies the topic of discussion. We love meeting new people who love their bunnies so the party is open to everyone. Even if you don't think you know anyone at the party don't let that discourage you--you'll make friends in no time. After all, you already have one thing in common--Bunnies!

You don't need to be a member of Alabama EARS to come to the party. (But if you decide to join when you are here, your $10 tax-deductible donation will go towards foster bun care and make you a member for 2012.)

Want more information? Please contact us at info@ alabamaears.org if you'd like to help prepare for the event, help out at the event, or would just like more information on attending.

We'll send out an e-announcement so make sure your email address is current! You can do that here.

  • Donation from Oxbow Hay for Disaster Relief

Oxbow Animal Health is proud to assist in the Alabama Tornado Disaster Relief Effort with the donation of products currently available through Alabama EARS. Available products include: Essentials Adult and Young Rabbit Food, Essentials Adult and Young Guinea Pig Food, Essentials Rat food, Essentials Chinchilla Food, and Western Timothy Hay in varying quantities.  If you have an affected animal(s) and need product assistance, please contact Alabama EARS at info@ AlabamaEARS.org

  • Spay and Neuter Certificates Available

As part of EARS’ commitment to the happiness and wellness of rabbits, we’ve developed the Alabama EARS Spay/Neuter Program to assist owners with the high costs of rabbit spay/neuter.

For details on how to purchase the $75 certificate (you'll save about $175), and where to use the certificate visit here.

  • Need Oxbow Hay?

Dr. Atlas and the folks at Riverview Animal Clinic donate 100% of the profits of hay sales to Alabama EARS. So when you buy a box of premium Oxbow hay for your bunny you can feel warm and fuzzy twice: first when you feed your bun a quality hay and second when you know your purchase helps out the foster buns.

  • Bunny Safe Toys

If you're in the market for some toys at the same time, you'll find bags of bunny-safe toys also sold at Riverview Animal Clinic. Profits from toy sales also go directly to the EARS foster bun account at Riverview.

The Hay and Toy fund is how we pay for the majority of our spay, neuter and medical expenses. So next time you need hay (or toys), think of Riverview and you'll be thinking of the EARS buns!

  • Books for Buns

Our "Books for Buns" program will continue as long as we have books to give away. Through a generous donation from the national House Rabbit Society, we will continue to donate copies of the House Rabbit Handbook to some libraries and shelters in Alabama. Does your library have a copy?

Why We Volunteer

brownie5

ADOPTED!

Brownie came to us as a baby (only a few days old) from Huntsville Animal Services. In the foster home, we loved his sweet way of carefully considering a banana slice and gently nibbling on it before delicately taking it from human hands. When we met his forever parents, we knew immediately that Brownie would be in good hands, and we couldn't wait until Brownie joined them in their forever home!

Why do We Volunteer? Because Brownie and his forever parents are a perfect match, and we were able to make their dreams come true.

THANK YOU to Dina Graphics for this photo of Brownie. Visit Dina Graphics.
