The Babies Born in 2009

We had two open spaces in our foster home and committed to taking in two rabbits. We ended up with 14 rabbits instead. Yep, the mommas had little ones in tow!  So, as Linda says "we are up to our ears in bunnies!" Below are photos of the 12 new babies.

We estimate that some of the boy babies have been neutered and are ready to be adopted.  The girls are still a little young to be spayed and we estimate the end of Feb to March they will be ready to go to their forever homes. Of course, you can come and meet them now and get to know them.

We'll try to post photos of the bunnies here as much as possible but with all the care and time all the bunnies take, photos tend to be a lesser priority. (If you are interested in popping by to take candid shots of these little ones as they grow let us know! We'd love to keep adding photos to this gallery page and to their individual pages as they grow!)

How You Can Help

Fostering: We need space! We are a no-kill organization and every bun we take in stays with us until he is adopted or lives out his natural life. We need volunteers to foster either a baby (when they are old enough) or a more socialized rabbit. To foster, you must live in the Birmingham area (so your foster bun can be readily available to meet potential adopters), and have adopted a bunny from EARS in the past. If you would like more information to decide IF you want to foster, please contact Linda or email us at info@alabamaears.org and include your phone number. We'll get back to you with details and work with you to decide if fostering is right for you.

Socializing: These little ones are going to need lots of one-on-one attention from humans, but so do all the other rabbits in the foster care. If you want to volunteer on a regular basis or now-and-then please email us with your name, and phone number for details.

Baby Bunny Shower Basket: The babies are moving to their own apartments! For now, the girls are getting along and can stay together (we only have three girls.) But the boys have been separated.  Twelve new apartments for twelve new rabbits all need to be furnished with a litter box, toys, treasure, hay, pellets, soft cotton blankets, water crocks, food dishes, and some will even need a new puppy X-pen to make an apartment where one did not exist before! (New apartments will be made in the temporary foster homes from our volunteers who have previously adopted a bunny from us and are able to make room for a little one or two.)  So, if you have some extra bunny stuff--it doesn't have to be new just clean--please consider donating it to EARS.
